The Masculinity of a Skull Tattoo

What is it about skull tattoos that are so intimidating?

Few people I know have even seen a dead body, much less been terrified of one. And the closest we’ve come (the skeleton from Biology class), the less it seems like there should really be anything that frightening about a skull, unless of course it is your own.

But something about skulls inked on a person’s arm, often times with a snake weaving in and out of the eye sockets seems especially intimidating, even if the reasons are difficult to explain.

Much in the same way that heart tattoos across the ankle tend to be surprisingly attractive on women, skulls really seem to masculinize a man’s profile. It’s no wonder so many people feel the need to get them then, as it makes sense that some people want to show the rest of the world how manly they are.

Though to be fair, who can blame them, really? If it helps impress the girls with the heart tattoos on their ankles, than it is the people without the skulls on their arm that are truly missing out then, isn’t it?

I may need to head into Bullseye Tattoos soon. It has been a while since I’ve been able to impress the ladies that much.
