Being Low on Drama is a Positive Trait

There are a few basic things that I always look for when I’m trying to figure out if someone that I’ve just met is going to eventually become a good friend. One of the key things is that the person must be low-maintenance and low on drama. I am not the kind of girl who has friends that get angry when you don’t call them often enough.

I knew that my friend Jeannie would become a great friend almost as soon as I met her. She was in the early planning stages of her wedding when we met and she was running into a whole bunch of problems. In fact, we met because she hired me to write a saying for her wedding invitations. When the invitations arrived, the saying was correct but the invitations themselves were beach wedding invitations instead of frangipani wedding invitations.

I would have expected Jeannie to go nuts about the mistake. We all know how brides can be when things don’t go perfectly. But that’s just not Jeannie’s nature. She took one look at the wedding invitations and laughed. "Guess I’ll have to move the reception to a beach," she said.

And believe it or not, when she sent me a belated invitation to join them last minute for the wedding, it had been rescheduled to a terrific beach location. That’s just the kind of girl that Jeannie is. And that’s the kind of woman that I am interested in being friends with!
