When mother recently decided that maybe she needed more life insurance, she asked me to look around to see what was out there.  She wanted me to gather as much life insurance information as I could so she could make an informed decision.  I told her she should just ask an insurance broker, but she was adamant that she wanted me to do the research for her. I had just lost my job, so I have a sneaking suspicion it was a little make busy project she had dreamt up for me.

I started my research for her, but I have, unfortunately, hit a road block early on.  I keep coming across the term carrier acknowledge programs for life insurance but can’t seem to find any clear definition of it.  It is mentioned on several different websites in passing, but when I Google to term, I keep running across people trying to sell me carrier acknowledge insurance without explaining what it is. 

The same thing with stranger owned life insurance.  All I know from reading about it is that it is bad and a form of insurance fraud.  But what the heck is it?  I know my mother is going to want to know the ins and outs of it and I can’t find any solid information. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong spot.

If anyone can explain either of these two terms to me, I would be very grateful.
