What are Prepaid Credit Cards?
Posted by Rich on 01/23/08 in Finance
Much like prepaid phone cards, prepaid credit cards are becoming a big part of our world. With a credit addiction working much in the same fashion as an oil addiction in North America, people are having a reliance on credit that may work out to be unhealthy. One way to ensure that you can avoid the trap of standard credit cards and credit card fraud is to go with a prepaid card. Much like the best credit cards, a prepaid card works in your favour by allowing more input on your behalf and allows you to set your own rules.
With society swinging in directions towards impulse buying, online shopping, and other forms of credit card reliance, it’s refreshing to see credit card plans that exist to avoid the trappings of over-spending. With a balance set by the user, these prepaid cards work in such a way as to ensure that the money spent is money owned. Rates are decided, therefore, on this basis and the cost to the consumer is less than the cost from a standard credit card.
The next time you apply for a credit card, consider prepaid cards. You may be surprised just how much money you can save by curbing the addiction to credit and blazing your own trail.
