5 Tips for Planning School Events

Schools frequently have to hold events in order to raise money for educating children. If you are a teacher, parent or school staff member then you might be asked to plan a school event.

Here are five tips to keep in mind when planning school events:

  1. Get a clear picture of what you want the event to be. If you don’t know what you want to do then you’re going to have a hard time executing the plan to do it.
  2. Get it down on paper. You should treat this almost like a small business plan. Get it organized on paper first.
  3. Make a list of volunteer activities. You’re going to need volunteers to do just about everything. It helps if you know what “everything” entails so you can assign tasks.
  4. Choose a few people to help you oversee things. You don’t want to have to do everything yourself so find some people who can help.
  5. Expect some things to go wrong. Don’t feel that everything has to be perfect. You’ll put too much pressure on yourself. Just do your best and it will be fine.

Planning a school event is like planning a party. Get a theme and a plan in mind. Let people know exactly what they can do to help. And then don’t worry if a little bit of punch gets spilled because everyone’s still going to have a good time.
