Are you having trouble finding a job? The competition is tough out there right now. Hang in there; it’s going to get better. In the meantime, you can boost your chances of finding work by expanding your job search. Start looking in fields that are related to yours but which you haven’t considered applying to before because they aren’t the types of businesses that you are used to working in.
For example, let’s say that you used to work with a document imaging company. You did clerical work for them. You would want to look into finding a clerical job with any type of business that was even remotely related to document imaging. An example would be to look at document management software vendors to see if they need clerical help. You may not know much about the software end of the job but the field is related enough to what you do have experience with that you should be qualified to do the work. Of course, you’re also qualified to do clerical work of a general nature so you could even expand your search further to looking at all different clerical jobs. Broaden your options and the job that you’re looking for will eventually find you.
