Tips for Video Conference Etiquette

At the end of the day, a successful business conference call is about building relationships with both potential and existing clients. But if you don’t follow proper etiquette while in your video conference room, you could be burning bridges rather than building them.
Follow these business etiquette tips to ensure your video conference is helping you create long-lasting relationships.
Arrive on Time- The first thing you can do to set a good tone for your meeting is to show up at your video conference facility on time. In the business world, time is money. Show your meeting attendees the respect they deserve by getting to your meeting when you say you will.
Be Prepared- When you walk into those video conference rooms, you need to be prepared to discuss the topics in great detail. If you show up unprepared, it makes your business look bad and it’s a direct lack of respect to all those involved. Study up on the conference topics so that you put your best foot forward.
Respect Seniority- Whenever a new topic comes up, it’s customary to allow those with seniority to contribute their opinions first. These are the key figures of the meeting, and you must show them the respect they deserve. Don’t try to shout over them. Let them talk, and wait your turn.
Keep Comments Brief- No one likes the person who hijacks the meeting for their own agenda. Don’t get on a soapbox and speak on a topic until everyone falls asleep. Give everyone a chance to speak by keeping your comments relevant and brief.
Respect Other Opinions- Successful meetings are those with an array of opinions. It’s this insight from many unique individuals that helps shape the policies of a good business. You won’t always agree with what everyone has to say, but proper etiquette dictates that you show respect for every opinion.
