Learning Lessons

I’m glad I’m not a business owner. There are so many aspects of business that just perplex me. Besides that, I don’t think I could handle the stress of managing a group of people. I’ve seen some friends succeed, and some friends fail. Of course it is always the friends who have failed that most concern me. I’ve been fortunate enough to learn from those lessons. I started my business three years ago in a decent economy. Last year I decided to look into a group of telemarketing consultants that did well for one of my buddies. The improvements we made to the business were great. We were able to increase our profits. When I went back to Sharlie and told her about my success she said that I should outsource inbound sales. After looking into this a bit, the idea grew on me.

I went back to the same consultation firm I hired last year and requested some telesales consultants. After reviewing the business, they too agreed that outsourcing would give me the biggest bang for the buck. It is still a little early to tell, but the business looks steady, even in the slow economy. Looking back, I’m glad I learned from my friends mistakes. I am a very happy business owner.
