How a portable screener built a little league field

My father owned an earth moving company for most of my childhood and all the way through my high school years. I grew up playing on compost screens, compost filters and screens and a host of other portable screening types of machinery.

I suppose it was little surprise that I decided to open my own business after I graduated from college with a degree in business administration. My dad made sure that I would have every advantage in the world of business affairs. He died much too early and the one recurring theme in his life was that he felt he didn’t have enough business intelligence.

So, armed with a small inheritance that included a portable screener, a few grand and some various compost screens, I jumped into the world earth moving. My confidence was high in that I knew the math. If I bought quality equipment from strong manufacturers that would stand behind their machines, I would be much further ahead in both the short and long term.

I also understood the power of giving back and started a foundation in my father’s name. By making contributions and using the organization to sponsor local events and charities I was able to bring in more work for my new business, and do great things like build baseball diamonds and refurbish local parks.
